Our Services

High Net Worth

Our mission is clear: the enhancement of our clients’ financial lives.  We believe it is important to our clients to have a disciplined and objective Financial Advisor who delivers advice based solely on a deep understanding of one’s needs and objectives.  We are confident that our team can be that advisor to you and your family, thereby allowing you to have more freedom in pursuing your goals and ambitions.

Captive Insurance

Upon developing a new relationship with a captive insurance company, the BGR Group creates a customized investment policy statement which fits the client’s needs and goals.  The investment policy statement takes into consideration the client’s risk profile and liquidity needs, as well as the tax and regulatory constraints of the jurisdiction where the captive is domiciled.

Throughout the years, our team has worked with both single parent captives, as well as group captives.  We offer a variety of resources and services that our team developed while managing in excess of $1 billion in captive assets since 2008.  Our investment management services for captives include the following:
•    Implementation, monitoring and active management of investment portfolios.
•    Customized reporting for captives.
•    Ability to work closely with our client’s captive manager and other service providers when appropriate.

Fixed Income

The interest rate environment is different today than it was ten years ago, and as a result, captives are actively searching for yield while trying to minimize risk.  For this reason, we focus more upon an ‘interest income’ driven model, rather than a ‘total return’ strategy which can be higher risk.  Through the ‘interest income’ strategy, we create a portfolio of bonds with the intent to hold until the bond’s maturity, allowing the captive to collect coupon interest and ultimately receive par value for the bonds.  The underlying credit quality of each position is monitored throughout to ensure that there are no major changes or concerns from the time of purchase.  It is similar to the strategy that many Fortune 500 companies use to manage their operating cash.  We believe this is the best way to protect the original principal of a captive’s assets.

With the primary focus on minimizing risk and volatility, we create an equity portfolio made up of large, well-established and financially sound corporations that have operated for many years.  While not a requirement, the majority of the names within the portfolio would be considered ‘blue-chip’ stocks and will span across a geographical area of both the United States and developed international markets.  Most, although not all, of the names within the portfolio will have a record of paying and/or raising dividends consistently for years.

Bonds are subject to interest rate risk. When interest rates rise, bond prices fall; generally the longer a bond's maturity, the more sensitive it is to this risk. Bonds may also be subject to call risk, which is the risk that the issuer will redeem the debt at its option, fully or partially, before the scheduled maturity date. The market value of debt instruments may fluctuate, and proceeds from sales prior to maturity may be more or less than the amount originally invested or the maturity value due to changes in market conditions or changes in the credit quality of the issuer. Bonds are subject to the credit risk of the issuer. This is the risk that the issuer might be unable to make interest and/or principal payments on a timely basis. Bonds are also subject to reinvestment risk, which is the risk that principal and/or interest payments from a given investment may be reinvested at a lower interest rate.

The investments listed may not be suitable for all investors. Morgan Stanley Smith Barney LLC recommends that investors independently evaluate particular investments, and encourages investors to seek the advice of a financial advisor. The appropriateness of a particular investment will depend upon an investor's individual circumstances and objectives.
